Who We Are
Our Primary sources of funding are from membership dues, funds generated from our Trips throughout
Mexico, donations from members and individuals, and grants from charitable foundations.
Expenses are limited and center on our Eyeglass and Diabetes Projects. Membership dues
are set to cover our District and Lions International dues plus administrative expenses.
The three day Excursion Trips throughout Mexico are designed to cover the costs of our Clinic at
75C, Reforma in San Miguel de Allende. All members and staffers are volunteers.
Eyeglass Clinic Project: What We've Achived
As of March 2015, we have given over 20,000 eye tests and dispensed more than 15,000 eyeglasses from our inventory of over 37,000 pairs, excluding the grinding of new prescription lenses. Our Lee Page Memorial
Children's Eyeglass Fund has purchased prescription lenses for nearly 2,400 children and 500 adults.
Our needs …
We are in great need of your donations, financial or in kind, to assist us in delivering the essential services of eye testing and prescription eyeglasses to those less-advantaged members of our community. You can help us by contacting eyeglass suppliers in your area for discontinued children's frames. We need help in obtaining used eyeglasses (adult and children's) in usable good condition and reasonably modern frames.
Diabetic Testing Project: What We've achieved
Since March 2007, we have provided over 4,222 diabetes tests to our clients, including
those through our outreach program in the orphanages and the rural areas. Seventy-nine clients
with high blood sugar levels were referred to a doctor for further evaluation and follow-up.
